Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies can advance to the ECHL's National Conference semi-finals Monday in Fresno with a victory over the Falcons at Save Mart Center. Face-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Utah currently leads the best-of-seven series three games to two following last night's 1-0 overtime win at the E-Center.

The winner of this best-of-seven will face the winner of the two versus seven series featuring Victoria and Bakersfield. The Salmon Kings currently lead three games to two as the match up now shifts back to Canada

The Grizzlies have been carried in the series by goaltender Nathan Lawson who has started all five games. In the playoffs, Lawson is 3-0 with a 1.80 goals against average and a .940 save percentage. The 24-year-old recorded the third shutout of his rookie season last night in Utah's 1-0 win stopping all 34 shots he saw.

Utah is 5-1-0-1 this year at Save Mart Center after winning games one and two of the series on the 13th and 14th of April. The Grizzlies won game one 6-1 followed by the sixth-longest game in ECHL history that they won 4-3 in triple overtime Monday. Two of Utah's three wins in the series have come in overtime.

After the sixth-seeded Grizzlies won the first two games of the series, the third-seeded Falcons countered by taking the first two games at the E-Center Wednesday and Friday.

The Grizzlies are attempting to win their first playoff series since the 1996-97 season when they swept the Kansas City Blades in the IHL 3-0 in the first round. Utah has not won a best-of-seven playoff series since their Turner Cup Championship clincher over Orlando in 1995-96.

All Grizzlies games are broadcast live on Utah Grizzlies Radio 860 AM in Salt Lake City and on www.utahgrizzlies.com. Pre-game coverage starts 30 minutes prior to face-off.
