Gateway Grizzlies News Release

SAUGET, Ill. - The Grizzlies saw their seven game win streak snapped by the RiverHawks of Rockford, as Gateway was ousted 7-5 at GCS Ballpark Tuesday night.

2,915 Grizzlies (34-26) fans turned out for the game three finale, and Gateway made it interesting for the Sauget faithful, scoring three unanswered in the final four frames before sputtering to a halt in the ninth inning. Rockford (27-32) again did their damage early, scoring runs in the first through fourth while adding another tally in the sixth to account for their seven runs.

Richie Jimenez Jr. paced Gateway in the loss, batting 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Rogelio Noris also turned in a nice effort at the plate, driving in one run on a 3-for-5 performance.

On the mound, Grizzlies hurler Paul Tremlin (4-1) was charged the loss, tossing only three-and-one-thirds innings while surrendering six earned runs on nine hits.

Rockford righty Cody Hallahan (4-5) claimed the series conclusion, going seven innings and allowing just three earned runs and striking out four.

The Grizzlies will next cross across the river and battle rival River City Wednesday night in game one of a three-contest set. Righty and ace Tim Brown will work the bump for Gateway.
