He struck out seven and did not walk a batter for the fifth time in his last six starts. Franco posted a game score of 63 in the loss; Grimes turned in a game score of 80 in the win.

The shutout loss was the first for the Mudcats at home this season and their third overall. They were 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position on Sunday night against Grimes and had only two hits against him. The hits came from Ryan Gebhardt who singled to start the first and Joseph Odom who singled with one out in the fourth. Gebhardt has now hit safely in four straight and Odom has hit safely in seven in a row.

The Keys (25-24) scored both of their runs in the second and did so with three hits and with help of one error in the inning. The rally started with a double by Conor Bierfeldt and continued with Josh Hart reaching on a two-out swinging bunt to third. Hart reached safely with an infield hit and Bierfeldt managed to score after a throwing error by Odom. Erick Salcedo then followed with a RBI single to right to score Hart and the Keys took a 2-0 lead.

The Keys had just two hits with runners in scoring position in the game and left only four men on base. They collected five of their six hits against Franco, but managed just one against reliever Zack Bird and Evan Phillips. Bird pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth and Phillips worked a perfect ninth with two strikeouts.

The game three victory gave the Keys a 2-1 series lead over the Mudcats. The series finale is scheduled for Monday afternoon with the first pitch slated for 12:00 p.m. at Five County Stadium. RHP Raymar Navarro (2-1, 5.00) is scheduled to make a spot start for the Mudcats on Monday afternoon.
