GRAND RAPIDS, MI- The Houston Aeros (6-5-0-0) had their three-game winning streak snapped as the Grand Rapids Griffins (5-4-0-0) shutout the Aeros 2-0 Thursday in front of 2,177 at Van Andel Arena. Griffins forwards Tomas Tatar and Jan Mursak scored for the Griffins and G Daniel Larsson saved all 34 shots against. Aeros G Wade Dubielewicz made 21 saves in the loss.

The Aeros and Griffins played a competitive opening period, but Grand Rapids was the only team to light the lamp. Tatar netted his first professional goal at 14:56 off helpers from RW Francis Pare and D Logan Pyatt. The power play goal is only the second of the year and first on the road given up by the Aeros penalty kill.

The Griffins wasted no time adding to their lead in the second period when Mursak found the net 26 seconds into the middle frame. C Kris Newbury was credited with the loan assist. The Aeros would outshoot Grand Rapids 14-3 for the remainder of the period, but still could not find the net. The Aeros were unable to mount a charge in the third period, failing to score on a power-play midway through the period and late with the extra attacker after pulling Dubielewicz.

The Aeros power play struggled yet again going 0-for-4, extending their scoreless streak to 31 straight chances. The Griffins finished 1-for-4 on the power-play and were outshot by the Aeros 34-23 on the night. The Aeros and Griffins play again tomorrow night at Van Andel Arena. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 P.M. CST and can be heard on 1070 AM KNTH and ahllive.com.
