Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Thursday announced the hiring of Alex Sherwood as their community arena account executive and Dave DeWildt and Chris Dolbow as ticket sales account executives.
Sherwood, 22, heads the efforts of DP Fox Sports & Entertainment to sell advertising in four area properties: Griff's IceHouse (30 Coldbrook NE, Grand Rapids), Houseman Field (corner of Diamond Avenue and Lyon Street, Grand Rapids), Kentwood Soccer Spot (3701 32nd Street) and Standard Federal Ice Center (2550 Patterson SE, Cascade).
Sherwood, a native of Flint, will graduate from Aquinas College this fall with a degree in business administration and sports management. He served as the game operations intern for the Griffins and the Grand Rapids Rampage from August 2003 until he was recently hired for his full-time position.
DeWildt, 23, was an intern in the Griffins' ticket sales department during the 2003-04 campaign before joining the franchise in a full-time capacity.
He will identify ticket sales prospects among youth sports teams, small businesses and various clubs and organizations in the Grand Rapids area. Prior to his internship with the Griffins, DeWildt was a shift manager and telemarketer for Western Michigan University's Annual Fund.
DeWildt, born and raised in Wyoming, Mich., graduated from Western Michigan University in June 2003 with a bachelor's degree in organizational communications.
Dolbow will target prospects for group outings and season tickets, and assist in the development and implementation of group outing theme nights and special ticket offers. The 24-year-old native of Kentwood, Mich., finished an internship in the Griffins' ticket sales department in March.
Dolbow, who earned a marketing degree from Davenport University in 2003, worked for Lacks Enterprises for parts of three years in various capacities, including for the marketing/communications department.
