Burlington, IA (August 24, 2009) - The Burlington Bees have won four games in a row after defeating Wisconsin 5-1 Monday night at Community Field. Shawn Griffin hit a three-run homerun in the fourth inning to give the Bees a lead, which they never relinquished after that.

Wisconsin scored the first run of the ballgame via a Josh Prince solo homerun in the top of the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fourth, Jason Taylor reached on an error and David Wood walked. After one out was recorded, Griffin hit his second homerun of the season to right field, which gave the Bees a 3-1 lead. The homerun was the first hit of the night for the Bees.

The Bees kept the 3-1 lead until the eighth inning when they scored two more runs. Patrick Norris and Taylor led the inning off with singles before Wood walked to load the bases. After one out was recorded, Griffin was walked, which forced in Norris. Jose Bonilla then hit into an RBI ground-out, which scored Taylor and gave the Bees their 5-1 final margin of victory.

The eighth strikeouts tied a career-high for Melville. Dusty Odenbach picked up his first hold pitching two scoreless innings allowing just one hit with four strikeouts and no walks. Blaine Hardy pitched the ninth inning and struck out all three batters he faced. As a staff, the Bees had 15 strikeouts and one walk. The 15 strikeouts tied a season high for the Bees this season.
