St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox defeated the Thunder Bay Border Cats 2-0 after a dominating pitching performance by Reese Gregory. An attendance of 2113 saw Gregory strike out 11 while the Rox offense took advantage of Border Cats mistakes.
Brandon Benson scored on a wild pitch that put the Rox up 1-0 in the third inning then Joe Tietjen brought in Connor Crane in the seventh inning to make the score 2-0.
Tietjen was 2-4 along with two stolen bases. The lead off man now has six stolen bases this season which leads the Northwoods league.
Local pitcher Reese Gregory stole the show as he went eight innings with 11 strikeouts and only allowing two hits. The win tonight was Gregory's first of the season. Gregory was efficient by throwing 101 pitches, making the game last just over two hours.
Trevor Charpie came into the ninth to record his first save of the season.
