Bullfrogs to Begin First Road Series
May 30, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis.- The Green Bay Bullfrogs are set to begin their first road trip of the season. They will travel to play the Lakeshore Chinooks at 6:35 p.m. in the first of a two-game series at Kapco Park.
Ryan Radue will make his season debut for the Bullfrogs tonight. The Appleton native made 14 appearances with the University of Connecticut this spring and held opponents to a .226 batting average for the Huskies.
The Chinooks will have Justin Langley on the mound to start the game. The 6-foot-6 lefthander finished his junior season with UW-Milwaukee with a 3.33 earned run average and a 6-2 record in 14 starts.
The Bullfrogs enter tonight's game with a 1-2 record. Green Bay split its opening series against the La Crosse Loggers and lost to the St. Cloud Rox before last night's game was postponed due to field conditions.
Last night's contest was interrupted by a pair of rain delays, and the game was postponed in the middle of the 13th inning. The game will be finished on July 16 as part of a doubleheader with St. Cloud as the home team.
Bullfrogs' starting pitcher Nathan Disch pitched 5 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts and did not allow an earned run. In addition to Disch's performance on the mound, Sam Brunner threw six innings in relief, giving up two hits, no runs and struck out nine.
The game remained scoreless until the top of the sixth inning. St. Cloud right fielder Joe Tietjen reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch. The Rox scored again a few batters later with Liam Bedford's RBI single that scored Michael Strem.
The Bullfrogs scored a run in the bottom half of the sixth inning. De La Rosa got aboard with a walk and came around to score on Billy Mullins' RBI double to deep center.
Green Bay tied the game when Mullins hit a fly ball to centerfield as Earl Vorpagel beat the throw home.
Neither team was able to score by the time the game was postponed, and the score remains 2-2.
Group tickets, season tickets and 7-game packages are on sale now. The Bullfrogs off-season hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information please visit www.greenbaybullfrogs.com.
