Mankato MoonDogs News Release

WATERLOO, IA - Zach Jarrett had a game-high two hits including a homerun against the Mankato MoonDogs pitching, as the Bucks win 10 - 4, at Riverfront Stadium Friday night.

Along with Jarrett, Luke Stratman also hit a homer that drove in three runs for the Bucks (4-0) to coming for five of Waterloo's 10 runs in the game. Jarrett, however, had a game high two hit on a night he would go 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Jarrett is now hitting .356 on the season.

Eight batters would collect hits on a night where, ironically enough, Major League legend Lee Smith threw out the first hit. The Bucks collected nine hits for the game.

Brinn Bell also had two hits for the MoonDogs (0-3) with an RBI to lead Mankato, increasing his batting average to .300. Joey Rodriguez would finish the night with two RBIs on one hit through five at bats.

MoonDogs starting pitcher Rhett Rapshus (0-1) was tagged with his first loss of the season on his short outing. Rapshus threw 2 1/3 innings while allowing five runs, four of which were earned, five hits, and a walk.

Tyler Day started for the Bucks and went 6 2/3 innings while allowing four runs, all of which were earned, on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Day would notch the win in this game, his first of the season for Waterloo.

The MoonDogs will remain on the road through the weekend, taking on the Alexandria Blue Anchors (0-3) in an attempt to get their first win of the season.
