July 2, 2015 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) News Release
CHICAGO (July 2, 2015) - U.S. Men's National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has added Greg Garza to the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup roster, following approval from CONCACAF after completing the application process. Garza replaces Houston Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis, who was ruled out with a knee injury.
Per tournament rules, pending CONCACAF approval a team may replace an injured player on the roster up to 24 hours prior to its first match. The player must come from the 35-man preliminary roster, which was due on June 5.
Garza played in the last five games of 2014, starting three. He has two starts in 2015, including one in the 2-0 win against Mexico on April 15 in San Antonio. The Atlas-based left back has been a part of every level of U.S. National Team programming, beginning with the U-14's.
The U.S. team is training in Nashville ahead of its final tune-up before the start of the Gold Cup. Ticket sales have already surpassed 36,000 for the friendly against Guatemala on July 3 in Nashville (5:30 p.m. CT, FOX Sports 1, UniMás, Univision Deportes Network).
