Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Greenville, SC - For the second straight night, the Augusta GreenJackets struggled on offense in a 10-4 loss to the Greenville Drive on Saturday.

Outside of the second inning, the GreenJackets were held to just a run on two hits. Augusta actually took the first lead in that second on Raynor Campbell's RBI single, Eliezer Zambrano's run-scoring double and a sacrifice fly from Rafael Rodriguez to take a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the second. The Drive would score the next ten runs of the game in their runaway victory.

Greenville tied the game in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run by Xander Boegarts - his second in as many nights - and a sacrifice fly off the bat of David Renfroe. After GreenJackets starter Ryan Bradley worked out of trouble in the third, he surrendered the lead in the fourth. With one out, Christian Vazquez's solo homer gave the Drive a lead they wouldn't lose. The home run came as part of a four-hit night for Vazquez as the Greenville catcher fell a triple shy of the cycle.

In the fifth, the Drive added to the lead on back-to-back RBI doubles by Vazquez and Boegarts to go up 6-3. They scored three more times in the sixth on a two-run Brandon Jacobs double and a wild pitch to put the game out of reach. Greenville stretched the lead to 10-3 on Vazquez's eighth-inning RBI single. The GreenJackets got a run in the ninth on a bases-loaded walk to Chris Lofton, but Bobby Haney struck out looking with the bases full to end the game.

Bradley (3-2) retired eight of nine at one point of the ballgame, but couldn't escape the trouble he hit in the second and fifth innings. He fired 4.2 innings and allowed five runs on four hits and a pair of walks, striking out six. Scott Swinson (5-4) earned his second straight win for the Drive, allowing three runs - one earned - on three hits and a walk while striking out three.

The GreenJackets can still win the series, but they'll have to take the final three games of the set to accomplish that feat. On Sunday, they'll send Mario Rodriguez (7-5, 4.61) to the mound in the middle game of the series against Greenville's Keith Couch (6-4, 3.09). First pitch from Greenville comes at 4:05 p.m. with radio pregame coverage beginning at 3:50, airing on WRDW-AM 1630 and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com .

Single-game tickets for any GreenJackets home game are currently available by calling the GreenJackets front office at 706-922-WINS while further information can be found online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com .
