Greenville Falls Short to Hickory

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive lost the fourth game of the series to the Hickory Crawdads at Fluor Field. The final score was Hickory 9-7.

The Drive had a busy first inning putting five runs on the board. Ceddanne Rafaela got things going with a single that sent Tyler McDonough home. Four more players made it home in the first inning thanks to hits from Alex Binelas, Gilberto Jimenez, Tyler Esplin, Antoni Flores, and Nick Decker.

Two scoreless innings left Hickory in a bad spot; however, they began to make their comeback when Trevor Hauver from the Crawdads hit a homerun at the top of the fourth. Hickory did not stop there as Cody Freeman hit a homerun with two more men on base in the fifth leveling the score at 5-5.

The Crawdads went ahead with hits from Frainyer Chavez and Angel Aponte who scored the team two more runs at the top of the sixth.

Aponte extended Hickory's lead when he hit a homerun at the top of the eighth making the score 8-5. Greenville attempted to catch up when Antoni Flores hit a single allowing Alex Binelas to score a run.

After Thomas Saggesse batted in Christian Inoa, Hickory went up 9-6. For a final effort, Alex Binelas hit a single which delivered Nick Yorke back home at the bottom of the ninth.

The series with the Crawdads continues tomorrow at 7:05 on Fluor Field.
