Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - The Rome Braves lost game one of their four game series with the Greenville Drive Saturday night 3-1 in front of 5,008 fans at State Mutual Stadium.
Greenville came out with bats afire in the first inning, scoring three runs on three consecutive doubles from Luis Soot, Mark Wagner, and Tony Granadilla. It wasn't until the seventh that the Braves got on the board. Jordan Schafer lead off the inning with a bunt single, and later stole second. He advanced to third on a single from Josh Morris and later scored on a ground ball out from Robert Marcial. Unfortunately for Rome, Marcial's would be the only RBI of the night for the Braves as Greenville takes game one 3-1.
Rome starter Phil Stockman (0-1) takes the loss for Rome after giving up three unearned runs in the first. Michael Bowden (7-4) gets the win for Greenville, with Jason Blackey recording his second save.
Game two of the series between Rome and Greenville will begin tomorrow at 2 pm at State Mutual Stadium. For ticket information call 706-378-5144 or log on to www.romebraves.com.
