GreenJackets Sweep Away Drive

Greenville, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, swept the Greenville Drive in a four game series, winning Thursday night's game 8-7.

The GreenJackets took an early 7-0 lead after scoring in three consecutive innings. A two-run home run in the third inning by Jacob Gonzalez was the highlight of that stretch for the GreenJackets.

Then starting in the fifth, the Drive starting chipping away at the lead. They put up six runs over the next three innings, trimming the GreenJacket lead to 7-6.

Then in the ninth, Ryan Kirby doubled to center field, which scored Jean Angomas from first. This insurance run would prove to be crucial as the Drive would add another in the bottom of the ninth. In the end, closer Olbis Parra kept the lead intact for the GreenJackets after a nerve-racking inning.

The GreenJackets now have won five in a row, going 6-1 on the road trip. They sit in first atop the Southern Atlantic League Southern Division.

Next the GreenJackets head home for a series against the Columbia Fireflies. The series will have many different fun events and promotions!

Friday the 27th will be Nickelodeon night, where we celebrate present and past Nickelodeon hit TV shows! On Saturday the 28th, we will have our Faith and Family night, followed by a fireworks show at the end of the game. Then on Sunday the 29th , we will have our Giants Sunday, were we pay homage to our MLB Parent club, the San Francisco Giants!
