GreenJackets Lose Tight Game vs Charleston RiverDogs

Augusta, GA - Saturday night, the GreenJackets entertained the faithful with a close game through 14 innings. Brody Koerner started for the 8-2 Charleston RiverDogs, and Grant Watson took the mound for Augusta (4-6). Just like Friday night, the GreenJackets jumped out to an early lead. Catcher Adam Sonabend got the scoring started early, knocking in Kelvin Beltre in the bottom of the second inning to make it 1-0 Augusta. Dillon Dobson homered in the third, his team leading forth of the season.

Watson was very effective through his five innings of work. He only allowed one run on three hits, while striking out six. He did not walk a batter. Michael Connolly pitched 3.2 innings in relief, allowing two runs while striking out three. The game went to extra innings, the first for Augusta on the season. Outfielder Dylan Davis pitched two innings, but suffered the loss as Charleston won a close game 5-3.

Tomorrow afternoon the GreenJackets return back to action for the series finale against the Charleston RiverDogs at 2:05pm. The gates will open to fans starting at 1:00pm. It's Bark in the Park, with a post-game dash around the bases with your dogs. The Junior Home Run Derby will begin following the game. It's also the first Junior 'Jackets Kids Club Day of the season, which features pre-game catch on the field, post-game kids run the bases and more!

As the GreenJackets attempt to split the series on Sunday, the projected pitching matchup is Domingo Acevedo (0-0, 3.48 ERA) opposing Cory Taylor (0-0, 0.00 ERA) for the GreenJackets.
