GreenJackets Are the "Toast" of the Town

Charleston, WV: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, won 2-1 in game one of their series with the West Virginia Power on Thursday night.

The game was tied at zero, until Orlando Garcia came through for the GreenJackets in the top of the fifth inning. His solo home run to left field put the GreenJackets out in front 1-0. The GreenJackets would add another in the top of the sixth inning, when a sacrifice fly from Heliot Ramos scored Malique Ziegler from third.

West Virginia would respond with one in the bottom of the sixth inning, but they could not fight their way back. The GreenJackets would go on to win 2-1 and capture the game one victory.

On the mound for the GreenJackets, Stetson Woods would impress in his first start. He went five innings, only giving up five hits while striking out seven Power batters. Keenan Bartlett would come on for two innings, getting the GreenJackets out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the sixth inning. He would give the ball to John Russell, who went two innings, while not giving up a hit. Russell earned his fifth save of the season.

First pitch in game two will be at 7:05 pm tomorrow in Charleston. GreenJackets (16-23) will look to win their third in a row.

After the roadtrip, the GreenJackets will be back for a three-game series with the Hagerstown Suns. Promotions include, North Augusta Community Night, Richmond County Community Night, and Live Heathly night.
