Hershey Bears News Release
8/29/2005 1:21:00 PM - The BEARS got a couple of more players potentially in the fold at the end of last week when the Capitals inked centerman Dave Steckel and defenseman Mike Green to contracts. Steckel played last season with the Manchester Monarchs, scoring 10 goals in 63 games. He's a former first-round pick out of Ohio State, and has a lot of size as well. At 6'5", he has the frame to be a pretty physical force. Speaking of first rounders, Green begins his pro career this fall after a terrific junior year for the Saskatoon Blades in the Western Hockey League. Green, who was drafted in the first round by Washington in the 2004 Entry Draft, scored 14 goals in 67 games last year, and also showed some grit by accumulating 105 penalty minutes. Both will be in Washington in time for training camp.
