Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
PEARL, Miss. - The Miami Marlins announced a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp roster prior to today's game against the Mississippi Braves at Trustmark Park at 2 p.m. eastern.
Miami Marlins right-handed pitcher Brett Graves has joined the Jumbo Shrimp on a transfer of a major league rehab assignment from the High-A Jupiter Hammerheads. Graves will start for the Jumbo Shrimp today against the Braves in Mississippi.
"I'm feeling good, I'm feeling ready to go," Graves said. "It's been a long road back so I'm ready to get going."
Graves made two rehab starts with the Hammerheads, going 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA in his seven innings of work. Graves started the season on Miami's 60-day disabled list due to a left oblique strain.
Graves pitched in three games for the Marlins during spring training before his injury. Graves was selected by the Marlins from the Oakland Athletics in the Major League phase of the 2017 Rule 5 draft. Graves has never pitched above the Double-A level in his career, and he was originally selected by the A's in the third round of the 2014 draft from the University of Missouri.
The Jumbo Shrimp roster stands at 25 active players, plus Graves on his rehab assignment, and a revised roster is attached.
