Greensboro Grasshoppers News Release
(Greensboro, NC) The Florida Marlins have announced the addition of right-handed pitcher Marc LaMacchia and left-hander Wes Letson to the Greensboro Grasshoppers active roster.
Acquired in a recent trade with the Texas Rangers, LaMacchia's most recent outing with the High A Bakersfield Blaze brought his game appearance total this season to twelve. In 31.1 innings pitched, LaMacchia surrendered 42 hits while striking out 27. In 2005, he compiled a 3.73 ERA in 62.2 innings pitched and held opponents to a .211 batting average. LaMacchia was originally selected by the Rangers in the 21st round of the 2003 draft.
Letson was acquired by the Marlins as a free agent after beginning the 2006 season with the Atlanta Braves High A affiliate Myrtle Beach Pelicans. In 19.1 innings pitched this season, Letson has allowed twelve earned runs and struck out nine.
Making room for the additions, the Florida Marlins have sent Juan Camilo to extended Spring Training and placed right-handed pitcher Jason Iehl on the disabled list, retroactive to May 26.
The Greensboro Grasshoppers take on the Lake County Captains in game three of four of the current homestand tonight at 7:00pm. For ticket information, call 336.268.BALL or visit us on the web at www.gsohoppers.com.
