Grantham and Jakaitis Assigned from AHL

The Gwinnett Gladiators have added two players to the training camp roster and released two players from camp. Forward Ryley Grantham has been assigned to the Gladiators from the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League and goaltender Jeff Jakaitis has been assigned to the Gladiators from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League from the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL.

Jakaitis notched a 2.58 goals against average and earned a 22-17-3 record with the Dayton Gems of the Central Hockey League last year. He also appeared in nine games in the AHL, three with Worcester and six with Portland. He posted a combined .900 save percentage in the AHL last season.

The Rochester, Minnesota, native recorded a 25-14-0 record with Val Pusteria HC in Italy in 2009-10. He earned a 2.61 goals against average and posted a .928 save percentage in 39 games with with Val Pusteria. He began his professional career in the ECHL in 2007-08 and appeared in 36 games with Columbia. He saw action in 47 games with Charlotte in 2008-09.

Grantham split time last year with the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL and the Utah Grizzlies. He earned five points (four goals, one assist) in 14 games with the Grizzlies. He had three points, all assists, in 22 games with the Heat last season. He tallied four points (one goal, three assists) in 67 games in his rookie professional season with Abbotsford in 2009-10.

He played four seasons in the Western Hockey League with Moose Jaw and Kelowna from 2006-09. In four seasons in the WHL, Grantham earned 53 points (46 goals, 27 assists) in 166 career junior games.

The Gladiators also released forwards Shawn Skelly and Nick Pitsikoulis from the Gladiators training camp. The Gladiators training camp roster stands at 21 players.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres and the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
