Missoula PaddleHeads News Release
Ogden, UT. - The Missoula PaddleHeads would have many opportunities to build upon an early lead in the first five innings of Game 3 opposite the Ogden Raptors on Friday night at Lindquist Field. After leaving the bases loaded in the fourth inning, Missoula would strand a pair aboard in the fifth as the game stayed tight at 2-1. With the bases loaded and two outs in the sixth, Clay Fisher would make sure the PaddleHeads would not miss out on another opportunity.
A trio of walks to Nick Gatewood, Jose Reyes, and Luke Navigato would set up the bases loaded scenario for Fisher with two outs recorded in the inning. In the fourth pitch of the at-bat Fisher would launch a ball over the centerfield wall to bring everyone home on a grand slam to make the score 6-1. It would prove to be the knockout blow in the contest as Missoula came away with a 7-1 victory.
The Raptors would almost immediately get on the board in bottom of the first inning as Jakob Goldfarb would score from third on an RBI groundout by Josh Broughton after tripling to lead off the inning to make the score 2-1. That would be the final time that the Raptors would manage to get on the board offensively however as Kevin Hilton would once again impress on the mound.
Hilton would only allow one run over seven innings to earn his sixth victory of the season. The CSU San-Marcos product was able to keep the dangerous Raptor offense off balance through much of the night inducing 13 groundball outs on his way to a victory on the mound.
Hilton has been on a role in his last three starts especially finishing 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA in those starts. Hilton's sixth win as a starter this season also set a new league high in the Pioneer League. Missoula is 8-0 this season in games started by Hilton.
The PaddleHeads (30-12) remained a game clear of the Idaho Falls Chukars (29-13) after the dust cleared on Friday night. Missoula will look to build on the momentum from the previous two games opposite the Raptors (27-15) in Game 4 of the series on Saturday night. The action begins from Lindquist Field at 7:00 p.m. Catch every pitch on ESPN Missoula 102.9 F.M.
