
Governor Ehrlich to honor Blast

Baltimore â The Baltimore Blast will visit Maryland Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. at the State House in Annapolis tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. Governor Ehrlich invited the Blast to a reception to congratulate the team on its 2004 Major Indoor Soccer League Championship. Ehrlich will also pose for a photo with the team following the 30-minute reception.
The Blast defeated the Milwaukee Wave, three-games-to-none, in the 2004 MISL Championship to capture the franchise's second-consecutive MISL Title. The Blast won Games One and Two in Milwaukee before returning to 1st Mariner Arena to wrap up the sweep with a 6-2 victory in front of almost 10,000 fans.
"This team is called the Baltimore Blast but people come from all over the state of Maryland for Blast games," Blast owner Ed Hale said. "I consider this championship a win for the entire state. The fact that we won the Championship here in Baltimore in front of all of our fans makes it that much more special for everyone."
In addition to the reception with Governor Ehrlich, the Blast will start training camp on Wednesday as well. The Blast will train Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. at Du Burns Arena leading up to the team's home opener on Saturday, October 16 at 1st Mariner Arena. The opponent for opening night will be announced tomorrow along with the full 2004-05 MISL schedule.
All Blast practices during the preseason and regular season are open to the public, with no admission fee. Practice times and location are subject to change; please call the Blast office to confirm. The Blast will play two preseason games against the Philadelphia KiXX; the first of which will be held on Friday, September 24 at Du Burns Arena. The second preseason match will be Tuesday, September 28 at Tri-State Sports at 7 p.m. Tri-State Sports, the practice facility for the KiXX, is located in Aston, Pa. Tickets for the game at Du Burns Arena are available at Du Burns for $5.
The MISL is set to release the 2004-05 full season schedule on September 15. Blast season tickets and mini-plans are on sale now by calling the Blast office at 410-73-BLAST. Single-game tickets will go on sale in mid-September. Tickets will cost $20 and $17 and will be available at the 1st Mariner Arena Box Office and can also be ordered by calling TicketMaster at 410-547-SEAT or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
