Gormley Gets Invitation To National Juniors Selection Camp

Moncton, NB - Moncton Wildcats sophomore defenseman Brandon Gormley is one of the 36 players invited to take part in Canada's National Junior selection camp from December 12-16, 2009 in Regina. The announcement of the player selection was made by Hockey Canada today.

Gormley, a native of Murray River, Prince Edward Island was selected first overall by the Wildcats in the 2008 QMJHL draft. He attended the National Junior camp last summer, was an alternate captain and played a major role in Canada's under-18 team, winning the Ivan Hlinka tournament in the Czech Republic last August. He was part of Team QMJHL in last month's Subway Super Series against the Russian national junior squad. To date, the 17 year old has played in five international competitions.

In his rookie season with the Wildcats, Gormley had 7 goals and 20 assists in 62 games. So far this year, he's scored 5 goals and added 15 assists in 28 games.

Along with the 35 other selected players, Gormley will travel to Regina on December 12th to take part in the four day selection camp.

Gormley and the Wildcats return to action at the Coliseum on Friday night when they take on the Gatineau Olympiques in a 7 pm game.
