Amarillo Gorillas News Release

Amarillo, TX 6/26/08 - Wednesday, June 11 began just like any other day for the employees assembled at the Amarillo Gorillas' headquarters.

A trip downtown for Owner Randy Sanders and new Head Coach Tom Coolen would certainly put a chink in the normalcy.

As the two headed back for the front office, they spied a small animal on the side of the road. That animal turned out to be a ten-day-old kitten, whom they rescued and brought back to the office.

Sanders immediately named the kitten "Puck," as he and Coolen made a stop at the grocery store with the kitten on the way back to the Gorillas headquarters. As they brought cat food, milk, and several towels into the office, Gorillas employees knew immediately that they would be keeping the cat as their new office mascot.

That afternoon, Director of Game Operations D'Edre Jefferson and Box Office Director Michelle McFadden took Puck to the vet, purchasing specialized formula for the kitten. Since then, the entire Gorillas staff has taken turns bringing the feline along.

"We found Puck wandering out on to a business highway and realized that if we did not take action there would be no Puck. So we picked her up, knowing that this was a long term commitment but also realizing that this was the right thing to do," Sanders said about the new face in the office. "Both the coach and I were appalled that someone would leave a ten-day-old kitten out to die.we are pleased that we made Puck part of our organization and know that she will bring us good luck in the future. Good deeds beget good results."

Fans are encouraged to drop by the Gorillas office to say hello to Puck during business hours.

Amarillo Gorillas season ticket information for the upcoming 2008-09 campaign is available by calling (806) 242-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Gorillas' office at 1934 Civic Circle in Amarillo.
