Brett Is Back, Brahmas Re-Sign Goaltender For 2008-09
June 27, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (June 27)- Scoring goals will be difficult to come by for Brahmas' opponents as Texas announced Friday the re-signing of goaltender Brett Jaeger for the 2008-09 Central Hockey League (CHL) season.
The fifth year professional arrived to Texas midway last season and posted a 13-6-1 record in the regular season. In 22 games, Jaeger had 2.52 goals against average (GAA) and a .921 save percentage. His outstanding play came at the right time, as the Brahmas surged into the second half of the season and marched into the playoffs as the hottest team in the league.
Jaeger led all CHL goalies in the postseason with a 2.30 GAA and .935 save percentage (goalies playing more than 3 games). His strong play in the playoffs gave him a 5-3-1 record and a shutout victory over Mississippi in the first round. His performance in the Northern Conference Finals helped lead Texas to a seventh and deciding game against Colorado where he went 3-3 with a 2.84 GAA.
Last season with the Brahmas, Jaeger achieved Goalie of the Week honors from the CHL for the week of February 4-10, going 2-0 with wins against Youngstown and Bossier-Shreveport.
Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong is relieved to have a strong veteran between the pipes for the upcoming season.
"Keeping Brett around was a priority during this offseason. We believe he has a unique combination of athleticism and puck handling skills, something that is difficult to find in a goaltender," said Wildfong.
Prior to joining the Brahmas, Jaeger put up outstanding numbers in three seasons in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). The Alberta native had a 51-32-15 career record and accumulated a .913 save percentage and 2.83 GAA. His successes in the 2005-06 season put him in the ECHL All-Star game.
Texas Brahmas 2008-09 Season Tickets are now on sale. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423.
