Amarillo Gorillas News Release

Amarillo, TX 6/6/08 - The new Head Coach of the Amarillo Gorillas, Tom Coolen, will speak with media and fans next Tuesday, June 10. The conference is scheduled to be held at the Ape Escape, inside the Amarillo Civic Center in downtown Amarillo.

Coolen was hired as the new Gorillas' Head Coach in May, after being involved in coaching hockey for over 25 years. The Canada native will move to Amarillo over the summer, and will be responsible for piecing together the Gorillas roster over the next three months.

The appearance on June 10 will be the first public appearance in Amarillo for Coolen, who last coached the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major/Junior Hockey League. Coolen has coached in over 500 professional and collegiate contests over the course of his career, which spans three decades.

The first 50 media and fans assembled at the Ape Escape will be treated to barbeque, courtesy of the new Rudy's Barbeque restaurant in Amarillo. Beverages will be provided by Coca-Cola. The conference is scheduled for 1:30 PM, during which Coolen will answer questions from the local media and talk about his expectations during the 2008-09 season.

Following the Tuesday gathering, Coolen will fly to Phoenix Thursday to take part in the annual Central Hockey League summer conference. During the conference, he will meet with coaches and staff from the other league teams, as he gets the Gorillas ready for their seventh season in Amarillo.

Fans and media wishing to attend the event should enter through Gate #7 at the Amarillo Civic Center. For additional information regarding Coach Coolen's visit, please contact Gorillas Media Relations Director Trent Kling at (806) 382-2164.
