LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League are busy preparing for the 2008-09 season. Laredobucks.com catches up with last seasons trade deadline acquisition Alex Goupil, as he enjoys his off-season.
LAREDOBUCKS.COM: Where are you spending your summer?
ALEX GOUPIL: I am currently spending my summer in Wichita, Kansas, and Ottawa, Canada.
LAREDOBUCKS.COM: Did anything happen on the way home from Laredo after the season that was interesting?
ALEX GOUPIL: I got a lot strange looks while I was in the airport for wearing an AWESOME sombrero!
LAREDOBUCKS.COM: What are your summer plans? Do you have a job?
ALEX GOUPIL: I'll be having a simple summer! Working out, and hanging out with friends. I have a job doing heating and air conditioning.
LAREDOBUCKS.COM: What was your best memory of Laredo last season?
ALEX GOUPIL: My best memory of Laredo last season was game six against Arizona during the "white out." Everytime we scored the lights dimmed down, and the crowd looked AWESOME.
LAREDOBUCKS.COM: Do you talk to any of your Bucks teammates during the off season?
ALEX GOUPIL: I try to keep in touch with James Hiebert, Dustin Traylen, and John Ceci.
LAREDOBUCKS.COM: Do you know what your plans are for the 2008-09 season?
ALEX GOUPIL: My plans for the 2008-2009 season aren't clear yet. I have a couple of options, and I am looking for the best possible deal.
Goupil just finished his fourth professional season. Goupil had another solid year in 2007-08, finishing with 24 goals, 19 assists, for 43 points. Goupil was traded to Laredo from Wichita on February 11th, and went on a tear in a Bucks uniform tallying 18 points in 16 games. Goupil finished with 11 points in 11 postseason games for the Bucks.
The Bucks will start their seventh season in the CHL on October 17th. Season tickets are available now, starting at just $34 a month. Call 718-BUCK (2825), or stop by the LEC to speak to a Bucks ticket representative.
