Brahamas Acquire Offensive Power In Galbraith For 2008-09 Season

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (June 6)- In their first player announcement since the conclusion of the 2007-08 season, the Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced the team's first official player signing with veteran Lance Galbraith for the 2008-09 season.
The high scoring right winger spent last season with the Idaho Steelheads of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) tallying 67 points (22 G, 45 A) in 66 games played. Galbraith spent six seasons in the ECHL playing in 354 games and appearing in four postseasons.
The 28-year-old star led the ECHL in scoring in the playoffs in 2006-07 with 27 points as he led the Steelheads in the Kelly Cup Championship, the second in his career. Galbraith won his first Kelly Cup with the Steelheads in 2005.
Galbraith previously played 19 games in the American Hockey League (AHL) and one season in the United Hockey League (UHL), putting up 46 points (23 G, 23 A) in 52 games played.
At 5-foot-10, 190 lbs, Galbraith has a reputation for his toughness as he has accumulated 2,001 penalty minutes in his professional career. In the past seven years, the gritty forward has averaged just over 285 penalty minutes a season.
Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong believes Galbraith's past successes and off-ice performance will bring a strong presence to the Brahmas.
"Lance comes to our program with two championships; he knows what it takes to win. He will play a strong leadership role for us as well as being a key player in the community. He will be the epitome of all-around player for the Brahmas organization," said Wildfong.
Prior to going professional, Galbraith player Junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Ottawa 67's from 1996-2001. The Brampton, Ontario native won two championships with the 67's (1999 and 2001) and also led the league in the playoffs with 28 points in 2001.
