Amarillo, TX 6/30/09 - The Amarillo Gorillas have signed former Central Hockey League "Rookie of the Year" forward David Nimmo for the 2009-2010 season, the team announced Tuesday. Nimmo, 26 (07/25/82), rejoins Amarillo after skating for the Florida Everblades and Reading Royals of the East Coast Hockey League, where he earned 11 goals and 24 points in 51 games last season.Â
"We are very pleased to have Dave back in Amarillo for the upcoming season," noted Gorillas Head Coach Brian Pellerin. "Dave is a dynamic player who will make everyone on our team better. He will certainly be a player our fans will love to watch."Â
The St. Albert, Alberta (located 10 miles North of Edmonton, Alberta) native will begin his second stint in an Amarillo inform, where in his first professional season, Nimmo racked up 41 goals and 43 assists, earning the Central Hockey League's "Rookie of the Year" award. Nimmo also received accolades that season including a selection to the Southern Conference all-star team as well as being named the Sher-Wood "Player of the Month" for December, earning 20 points over 11 games.Â
"David will be one of our marquee players for the 2009-2010 season," remarked Gorillas General Manager Robert Simmons. "I think that he fits in very well with the players we have already signed and he is an important piece to the puzzle."Â
