North Augusta, SC - Minor League Baseball announced on Monday that Augusta GreenJackets right-handed pitcher, Tanner Gordon, has been named the Pitcher of the Week in the Low-A East for July 5th-11th. Gordon made two starts and allowed only one run over 13 innings of work. He went 2-0 and gave up just four hits.
In his first start Tuesday, July. 6th, Gordon pitched seven innings allowing one run. He'd strikeout six Pelicans along the way and surrender only three hits. The Jackets hung on for a 3-1 victory and Gordon ended the outing by striking-out the side.
In his second appearance on July 11th, Gordon ended the 12-game homestand by pitching six innings of scoreless baseball with five strikeouts. He allowed just one hit as the Jackets earned their third nine-inning shutout of the year with an 11-0 victory.
For the entire homestand, Gordon made three starts and posted a 0.48 ERA. He allowed just one run in 18.2 innings. Gordon was a sixth-round pick of the Braves in the 2019 MLB Draft.
