Goose Eggs All-Around, Saints Shutout AirHogs Again, Win Game 2 of Doubleheader 4-0

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX - Apparently, there were no issues with the pitcher's mound for the St. Paul Saints on Tuesday night. The St. Paul Saints managed just three hits in Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Texas AirHogs. Turns out that's all they needed as their pitching staff gave up just two and they blanked the AirHogs for the second time during the evening with a 4-0 victory at AirHogs Stadium. The win is the fifth in a row for the Saints who improved to 13-6 on the season and are now tied for first place.

Jason Creasy was masterful in his 6.0 innings of work. In the first he gave up a one out single to Ryne Willard, but got a fly out and a strikeout to end the inning.

The only inning he ran into trouble was the third when Alvaro Rondon singled with one out. He stole second and Willard walked. Creasy then got Wagner to ground into a fielder's choice and struck out Levi Scott to end the inning.

Creasy retired 11 of the final 12 batters he faced and went 6.0 shutout innings allowing two hits while walking three and striking out eight.

Connor Little finished the night off by throwing a perfect seventh inning.

The Saints got all the offense they needed in the first when Danny Oh led off with a walk and Breland Almadova tripled him home to make it 1-0. Nate Hanson then hit a chopper to third, Almadova was caught off the bag, but Wagner's throw to catcher Michael Miller was dropped by Miller allowing Almadova to score and making it 2-0.

It stayed that way until the sixth when Brady Shoemaker walked with one out. Tony Thomas hit a double play ball to second, but second baseman Trevor Sealey couldn't glove the grounder and the Saints had runners at first and second. A walk to Anthony Gallas loaded the bases and the AirHogs went to their bullpen for reliever Billy Waltrip. He promptly walked Brady Burzynski to force in a run which made it 3-0. Jon Kristofferesen's sacrifice fly finished the scoring.

The Saints have now gone 15 consecutive innings without allowing a run, their longest streak of the season.

The same two teams meet in the finale of the three game series on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. The Saints send RHP Mark Hamburger (2-1, 3.38) to the mound against AirHogs RHP Scott Firth (1-2, 1.65). The game can be heard on Club 1220 KLBB.
