FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 24, 2014) - The Fort Myers Miracle blasted multiple home runs for the third consecutive game en route to a 6-5 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads on Saturday night at Hammond Stadium.

A crowd of 4,648 watched the Miracle bats provide early fireworks before a postgame pyrotechnic display. Fort Myers took an early 1-0 lead on the first home run of the season from Niko Goodrum. On the first pitch of the second inning from Hammerheads starter Scott Lyman, Goodrum yanked a line drive off the drink rails in right field.

In the third, the Miracle scored four runs off Lyman (3-4). Jorge Polanco led off with a single through the right side. Travis Harrison then doubled down the left field line to bring in Polanco. The two-bagger for Harrison extended his hitting streak to 14 games.

Fort Myers then added two more runs on the second homer of the night. With Harrison at second, Mike Gonzales deposited a deep fly ball into the seats in right center field.

After a strikeout of Goodrum, Adam Brett Walker doubled into right center. A ground ball to second by Max Kepler moved Walker to third. With two out, Jairo Rodriguez hit a 1-1 pitch from Lyman into center to score Walker and give the Miracle a 5-1 lead.

In the fourth, the Hammerheads took advantage of two Miracle errors to score three runs off Fort Myers starter Brett Lee.

Lee (5-1) went six innings and the four runs he allowed were all unearned. Tallying four strikeouts and issuing two walks, Lee earned his team-leading fifth win.

Up by a run in the fifth, Walker earned a base on balls. Kepler then doubled into right center to score Walker and push the Miracle lead to 6-4.

Tim Shibuya entered in relief in the seventh and tossed a scoreless inning. Shibuya started the eighth with a strikeout, but gave up three hits to load the bases. Blake Barber then coaxed a walk to cut Fort Myers lead to 6-5.

Steven Gruver replaced Shibuya with one out and the bases loaded. Gruver got Colin Moran to pop out to short and Austin Barnes to ground out to short. Remaining on the face the left-handed Viosergy Rosa in the ninth, Gruver got Rosa to roll a soft tapper to first.

Manager Doug Mientkiewicz made the move to bring in Madison Boer to face the right-handed Matt Juengel and Jesus Solorzano. Boer struck out both, lighting up the radar gun at 97 miles per hour for a called third strike to end the game and record his fifth save.

The Miracle (27-21) complete a two-game series with the Hammerheads (22-27) on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. Jose Berrios is scheduled to start for the Miracle against Jake Esch for Jupiter. Gates open at 3 p.m.
