Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

The Winnipeg Goldeyes saw their second-half record improve to 13-6 Wednesday night with a 5-4 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs before a sold-out crowd of 7,722 at CanWest Global Park.

Steve Murray (6.2 IP, 4 R, 9 H, 3 BB, 1 SO) picked up his third straight win to improve to 5-5. Darren Truty (7.0 IP, 5 R, 6 H, 1 BB, 8 SO) took the loss to fall to 4-6. Oscar Montero pitched a scoreless ninth for his seventeenth save.

Winnipeg opened the scoring with five in the first. Pat Scalabrini struck out to lead it off, but reached when strike three got away from catcher Todd Santore. Max Poulin moved him to third with a subsequent double and, after Darryl Brinkley walked to load the bases, Greg Morrison singled to make it 2-0. T.J. Soto tripled to make it 4-0 and came home one batter later on a Blair Barbier sacrifice fly.

Lincoln made it 5-1 with one out in the third. With Jorge Moreno and Albenis Machado aboard, JuJu Foreman singled to load the bases, but when centre fielder Amaury Garcia misplayed the ball, Moreno scored. The visitors added two more in the fourth when Moreno's two-out double scored Charles Peterson and Darren Doskocil and drew within one in the fifth on a Pete Rose Jr. single that scored Foreman, but they would get no closer.

These same two teams meet again Thursday at 12 noon. T.J. Stanton (4-3) goes for us while Alex Carbajal (1-1) replies for them. Great seats are available at all Ticketmaster locations, including the ballpark box office.
