Goldeyes to Play Wesmen at Shaw Park

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced today an addition to the team`s exhibition schedule that will match the Goldeyes against the University of Winnipeg Wesmen at Shaw Park on May 11 at 6 p.m.
The game will be the third and final home exhibition game for the Goldeyes after playing the St. Paul Saints twice earlier in the week, while the Wesmen will conclude their inaugural season with this game. Ticket details will be announced soon.
"The Goldeyes are a proud supporter of the Wesmen baseball program through the use of Shaw Park for Wesmen home games," Winnipeg Goldeyes general manager Andrew Collier said. "This game will enhance our partnership."
The Wesmen will play eight doubleheaders at Shaw Park, beginning April 14 against Dakota College-Bottineau and ending May 6 against Minot State. With the exception of May 5 and 6, all the doubleheaders will be played at 1 and 4 p.m.
"We are very excited to have this opportunity to have our players be on the same field with the Goldeyes", said Wesmen head coach Mike Krykewich.
Prior to the start of baseball season at Shaw Park, the Voice of the Goldeyes, Paul Edmonds, will be the MC at the Wesmen Baseball Grand Slam Dinner on March 29 at Canad Inns Transcona. The guest speaker for the dinner is Jesse Barfield, who starred for the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1980s.
