Goldeyes Annual Open House May 7th

WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Goldeyes annual Open House is scheduled for Saturday, May 7th at Shaw Park.

The event--which is free to the public--begins at 11:00 a.m., and marks the first day individual tickets for the 2016 season go on sale. Individual tickets can be purchased at the Goldeyes' box office beginning at 10:00 a.m. that morning. Goldeyes' season ticket and mini-pack holders can also pick up their tickets starting at 10:00 a.m.

The Open House coincides with the first day of American Association spring training. The 2016 Winnipeg Goldeyes will take the field as a team for the first time and practice until approximately 1:00 p.m.

The first 1,500 fans in attendance receive free hot dogs, chips, and soft drinks, courtesy of Winkler Meats, Old Dutch, and Pepsi respectively.

Fans can participate in guided tours of Shaw Park, which include a stop inside of the Goldeyes' clubhouse. Hourly prize draws will be conducted throughout the afternoon.

Fans will also have the opportunity to test their own strength at the radar pitching booth, located behind Section "A." Select concession stands will be open on the Shaw Park concourse.

The Goldeyes are scheduled to spend six days of training camp in Winnipeg from May 7th-12th. The team will then depart for its annual early-season road trip which includes the balance of spring training, as well as the first 10 games of the regular season. Spring training practices are open to the media and public. A complete list of spring training workout times and planned community appearances will be announced in the near future.

Monday, May 16th - Team Workout at Wichita - time TBA

Tuesday, May 17th - Exhibition at Wichita - 11:05 a.m.

Wednesday, May 18th - Team Workout at Joplin - time TBA

Thursday, May 19th - Regular Season Opener at Joplin - 6:35 p.m.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes open the 2016 season on May 19th at Joplin. Winnipeg's 2016 home opener is scheduled for Monday, May 30th versus the Sioux Falls Canaries.
