Goldeyes Announce 2018 Schedule

October 30, 2017 - American Association (AA)
Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

The American Association will once again play a continuous, 100-game schedule. The expansion Chicago Dogs (Rosemont, Illinois) are set to replace the Salina Stockade, keeping the league at 12 members.

2018 will see a two-division alignment with the Goldeyes, Dogs, Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, Gary SouthShore RailCats, St. Paul Saints, and Sioux Falls Canaries competing in the American Association North. The Cleburne Railroaders, Kansas City T-Bones, Lincoln Saltdogs, Sioux City Explorers, Texas AirHogs, and Wichita Wingnuts comprise the American Association South.

The teams with the top two winning percentages from each division qualify for the postseason.

The 2018 season will be the Goldeyes' 25th since the club returned to Winnipeg in 1994, and begins May 18th on the road against the Railroaders. The Goldeyes' 2018 home opener is scheduled for Friday, May 25th against the Canaries at Shaw Park.

Each of the Goldeyes' 11 opponents travel to Shaw Park at least once, including the first ever visits by Chicago and Cleburne. Likewise, the Goldeyes will play at least one road series in every opposing ballpark.

Additional home highlights include a rematch of last year's American Association Championship Series against Wichita (June 25th-27th), as well as two visits from the rival RedHawks (July 27th-29th) and Saints (June 28th-July 1st, August 27th-28th).

The home schedule features eight Fridays, seven Saturdays, and seven Sundays. The Goldeyes also host three matinee starts (11:05 a.m. first pitch) on May 31st, June 11th, and July 10th.

For the first time since 2011, the Goldeyes finish the regular season on the road when they face the Saints at CHS Field from September 1st-3rd.

The Goldeyes' 2018 promotions schedule, complete list of start times for road games, and a full spring training schedule will be announced at later dates.
