Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
Add the first new face to the Winnipeg pitching staff.
Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the signing of southpaw Aaron Odom. There are now 12 players on the pre-season roster, split evenly between pitchers and position players.
Odom, 24, arrives following two years in the Baltimore system. Able to do double duty, he is 5-10 in 29 appearances (21 starts) with a 4.14 earned run average, fanning 108 in 113 innings. He signed with Baltimore following his senior year at NCAA Div. I Texas Tech.
As the Goldeyes welcomed Odom, they bid good-bye to right-hander Mark Michael, whose playing rights were dealt to El Paso of the American Association for future considerations. Signed in July following stops with Kansas City and Sussex, he went 0-2 in four appearances (two starts) for Winnipeg with a 3.77 ERA.
Of the dozen players signed to date, nine are returnees. Training camp opens May 1 at Canwest Park.
