
Golden Moment for Nurse at WJHC

For three members of the Soo Greyhounds it was their first taste of the World Junior Hockey Championship.
DARNELL NURSE (Canada), SERGEY TOLCHINSKY (Russia) and BRANDON HALVERSON (USA) headed to to the tournament co-hosted in Toronto, ON / Montreal, QUE looking to fullfill the dream of all ten participating countries ... a gold medal.
Moments ago, that dream became reality for DARNELL NURSE.
The Greyhounds captain squared off against teammate SERGEY TOLCHINSKY in what would be an intense and entertaining finale to the tournament.
After killing off a full two-minute Russian power play to start the third period, the Canadian and Russian clubs skated scoreless the rest of the way and when the buzzer sounded Team Canada was victorious, 5 to 4.
It mark's Team Canada's first goal medal since 2009.
Nurse, was selected as the Team Canada Player of the Game along with being named one of Canada's Top 3 players in the tournament.
Tolchinsky had a strong showing all tournament long, including a multipoint game in the Championship alone and will dawn a silver medal when he returns back to Sault Ste. Marie.
Halverson posted a shutout when given the call in the Team USA nets.
The Soo Greyhounds congratulate all three players for their participation at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
