
Goeddel Homers But Big Inning Dooms Hot Rods

Fort Wayne, IN - Tyler Goeddel hit his sixth home run of the season, but the Bowling Green Hot Rods (7-6, 45-28) were beaten 8-1 by the Fort Wayne TinCaps (9-4, 40-43) on Independence Day at Parkview Field. The TinCaps used a seven-run fourth inning to keep the Hot Rods winless in franchise history in three games on the Fourth of July.
The decisive inning saw the TinCaps put a seven spot on the scoreboard at Parkview Field. The seven tallies were the most scored in one inning against the Hot Rods this season. Roberto Gomez allowed all seven runs after allowing just eight runs in his last eight starts combined. The loss to the TinCaps breaks a five-game winning streak for the Hot Rods over the TinCaps.
Fort Wayne hosts Bowling Green for the middle game of the three-game set on Thursday night at 6:05 PM CDT. The Hot Rods will give the start to RHP Trevor Shull (2-3, 5.31), while Fort Wayne will counter with RHP Adys Portillo (5-5, 1.76).
