Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release
Regina SK ---- This morning the Regina Pats announced that they have traded twenty-year-old goaltender Adam Ward to the Lethbridge Hurricanes, in exchange for a conditional sixth round pick in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft.
Ward, a native of Swift Current, was acquired last season in a trade with Saskatoon just prior to the trading deadline. Last season between the Blades & Pats, Ward had a 7-20-3 record with a 3.98 GAA in 35 appearances.
The trade leaves the Pats with three goaltenders with WHL experience heading into main training camp, which opens on Saturday, September 3rd in Lumsden.
Vying for the starters job will be David Reekie who appeared in 35 games for the Pats as a rookie last season, Ryan Nieszner who led Team West to the gold medal at the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge, while playing for Moose Jaw in the SMAAAHL last season, and Nathan Heinen who played in two games for the Pats last season, spending the majority of the year with the Humboldt Broncos of the SJHL.
