Goaltender Peter Budaj and Defenseman Kevin Gravel Earn Promotion to Kings

Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that goaltender Peter Budaj and defenseman Kevin Gravel have been recalled from their loan by the Kings. Additionally, the Kings loaned defenseman Christian Ehrhoff to the Reign.

Budaj, 33, leads the AHL with a 1.58 goals-against average, 26 wins, eight shutouts, .935 save percentage and 2285 minutes played. The Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, native stands fourth in the league with 862 saves and represented the Reign during the 2016 AHL All-Star Classic in Syracuse, New York. Budaj skated nine seasons in the NHL from 2005-14 with the Colorado Avalanche and Montreal Canadiens and is in his first season with the Kings organization.

Gravel, 23, earns his first NHL callup after registering 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 42 games with the Reign this season. During his rookie campaign last season, the Kingsford, Michigan, native helped the Manchester Monarchs capture the 2015 Calder Cup Championship with 15 regular-season points (six goals, nine assists) in 58 games and five assists in 19 Calder Cup Playoff games.

Ehrhoff, 33, brings 781 games of NHL experience to the Reign and has 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 40 games with the Kings this season. Over his 12-year NHL career, the Moers, Germany, product stockpiled 337 points (74 goals, 263 assists) while skating with the San Jose Sharks, Vancouver Canucks, Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins and Kings.
