Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips), two-time Western Conference champions and eight time U.S. Division champions of the Western Hockey League, have acquired goaltender Koen MacInnes (KOH-en, Mc-Inn-is) from the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for left winger Brendan Lee, Silvertips general manager and head coach Dennis Williams announced today.

MacInnes, a 2002-born goaltender, will make the Silvertips his second WHL stop after two seasons with the Blades, both campaigns when he earned a spot on the National Hockey League's Central Scouting rankings.

"Koen is a goaltender gifted with size, experience, and athleticism that has drawn attention from NHL scouts," said Williams. "We're fortunate to have an opportunity to bring an individual aboard with his abilities and we look forward to his continued development in our program. At the same time, it's important to acknowledge Brendan's contributions in two winning seasons and a U.S. Division title with gratitude. He wore the Silvertip jersey with pride and we wish him nothing but the best in his future."

MacInnes last season finished his second WHL campaign ranked 31st among North American goaltenders (eighth among those in the WHL) ahead of the 2021 NHL Draft and earned seven appearances with a 4-2-1 record, .912 save percentage and 2.57 goals-against-average, teaming with Nolan Maier to help the Blades go 16-5-2-1 (35 points) in the 24-game season, finishing three points back of the East Division champion Brandon Wheat Kings.

The 6-foot-3, 183-pound netminder went 14-5-1 with a .901 save percentage, three shutouts, and 2.84 goals-against-average in his 2019-20 rookie campaign, ending the season ranked 22nd among North American goaltenders ahead of the 2020 NHL Draft. He earned victories in his first two WHL regular season starts and made 20 saves for his first career shutout, Nov. 17 against Moose Jaw.

The native of Burnaby, British Columbia made his debut with a pair of appearances for Saskatoon in the 2019 WHL Playoffs and suited up for Team B.C. at the 2017-18 WHL Cup, where he earned a .952 save percentage and 0.96 goals-against-average. He was selected by the Blades in the second round (35th overall) in the 2017 WHL Draft.
