Gladiators OL/DL Breakdown

Las Vegas, NV, February 14, 2007- Las Vegas Gladiators enter week two of training camp. Coach Barto breaks down the Offensive Line and Defensive Line, as they continue to show progress each day.

Offensive Line

Jimond Pugh (6"2, 300, Memphis) is one of two Offensive Linemen (Konrad Dean) with AFL Experience. He spent the 2005 season on the practice squad of the Tampa Bay Storm. Konrad Dean (6"4, 340, Akron) also has AFL experience spending 2005 season with the Philadelphia Soul. Adrian Gonzalez (6"5, 240, Louisiana Tech), Carlos Joseph (6"6, 342, Miami) and recently signed Victor Leyva (6"4, 310, Arizona State) round off the Offensive Line for the Gladiators. Leyva who signed yesterday with the Gladiators has spent the past four years in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots.

"The OL has looked extremely good" said Head Coach Danton Barto. "We lost Tupe Peko for the season and that is a big loss. We need to have someone step up and take a leadership role; this group is an extremely hard working and intelligent group, so I am confident that will happen."

Defensive Line

Joseph Crear (6"2, 260, Mississippi Valley State) played under Coach Barto in the af2 with the Memphis Xplorers and Derrick Crawford (6"3, 279, Texas A & M Commerce) in 2005 was on the Orlando Predators roster, but was placed on the NFL League Exempt list just prior to the start of the season. Zach Ville (6"1, 291, Missouri), Terrance Martin (6"2, 290, North Carolina State), Karon Riley (6"2, 260 Minnesota), Will Thompson (6"3, 254, Georgia), John Nix (6"1, 313, S. Mississippi) and Khaleed Vaughn (6"1, 270, Clemson) make up the rest of the Defensive Line entering their first season in the Arena Football League.

"This group should be the strength of our team" said Coach Barto. "We have a lot of players who can get it done in the AFL. This group has a chance to be one of the best in the AFL"

Training camp is open to the public and practices are held outside the Orleans Arena. The first practice begins at 9:30-11:30 and the second practice goes from 2:45-4:45pm.

The Gladiators will kickoff their 5th season on the road March 4th against the Austin Wranglers at 1pm. Season tickets for the 2007 Las Vegas Gladiators home schedule are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Las Vegas Gladiators office at 702-731-4977.
