
Gladiators Ink Pair of Rookies

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have signed rookie forward Jared Ross and rookie defenseman Ryan Reid for the 2005-06 season.
Ross, a rookie out of the University of Alabama-Huntsville, comes to the Gladiators this year after appearing in 12 games with the Motor City Mechanics of the United Hockey League at the end of last season. He recorded 8 points in off of 3 goals and 5 assists and had a shorthanded goal while finishing with a +7 in the UHL.
Prior to joining Motor City following his fourth collegiate season, the Huntsville, Alabama native led UA-Huntsville in scoring during his last three seasons with the Chargers posting 40 or more points each year. Ross led the NCAA in points per game during the 2003-04 season averaging 1.61 points per game and his 1.0 assists per game was also tops in the NCAA during the 2003-04 season. Last season, he averaged .79 goals per game to rank 3rd overall in the NCAA in that category.
Ross is a three-time All College Hockey America 1st Team Selection including last season when he was a unanimous selection. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound center was named the 2004 College Hockey America co-Player of the year during his junior season when he finished the year with 50 points.
Reid joins the Gladiators this season with ECHL experience after appearing in11 regular season games and 3 Kelly Cup Playoff Games with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies last year after his final collegiate season at Lake Superior State. He posted 2 goals, including a game winning goal, and an assist for 3 points with Atlantic City.
During his sophomore season at Lake Superior State, The Chicago, Illinois native was named the team's outstanding defenseman for the year. He finished his collegiate career with 2 goals and 21 assists for 23 points.
Prior to attending Lake Superior State, Reid played three seasons for the Danville Wings of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and had four goals and eight assists in 48 contests during the 2000-01 season.
The Gwinnett Gladiators open the 2005-06 ECHL season at the Arena at Gwinnett Center hosting the Charlotte Checkers on October 21st. The Gladiators play all 36 home games at the Arena at Gwinnett Center located on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth and are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers.
