Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - Bakersfield Sports Entertainment announced today that Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting Kevin Bartl will be leaving the organization to accept a position with an American Hockey League team.

Bartl, 31, will join the Lowell Lock Monsters in the AHL and serve as the director of media and team services. He joined the Condors in the summer of 2001 and has been the play-by-play voice on radio and television for Condors hockey for four seasons and Blitz arena football for two seasons. In the 2002- 03 season he was named the West Coast Hockey League Broadcaster of the Year, sharing the award with Jack Michaels of Alaska. It was the second top broadcaster award of his career, earning the bid in 2001 with Rockford in the United Hockey League.

"I want to thank Matt Riley and the fans and everybody for the chance to come out here," said Bartl. "I have nothing but great things to say about the organization and I learned a lot during my time here. I've had a great run here in Bakersfield and it's been a fantastic experience to be a part of. At the same time, this is a great opportunity for me and I'm looking forward to a new challenge."

"The work ethic and pride to be the best that Kevin brought to our organization was second to none," said President Matt Riley. "The unbridled excitement he brought to his call of the game will truly be missed, as will his creativity and out-of-the- box thinking. Not only did Kevin bring a passionate energy to his broadcasts, but he was the brains behind many of the promotions, marketing campaigns and the Condors much-talked-about TV campaigns. We wish him the best and Lowell is fortunate to be getting someone of Kevin's caliber."
