
Gladiators Agree to Terms with Youngclaus

The Gwinnett Gladiators have agreed to terms with defenseman Phil Youngclaus for the 2010-2011 season.
Youngclaus split time between the Gladiators and the Dayton Gems of the International Hockey League last season. He collected 7 assists for the Gladiators in 31 ECHL games after joining Gwinnett on January 26th. He began the season with Dayton and collected 20 points (4g, 16a) in 36 IHL games.
The Methuen, MA, native skated in just 11 games with the Gladiators during the 2008-09 season due to injury. Youngclaus returned to the Gladiators for the 2009 Kelly Cup Playoffs where he posted an assist in five post-season games.
In 112 career ECHL games between Gwinnett and Pensacola, Youngclaus has earned 21 points (1g, 21a) and amassed 107 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, he skated with the University of Vermont for four seasons where he collected 2 goals and 9 points in 78 career collegiate games.
The Gwinnett Gladiators open the 2010-11 season on the road before returning home to host the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday, October 22nd at 7:35 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
