Lubbock Cotton Kings News Release
LUBBOCK, TX: February 8, 2006 - The blood supply in the Lubbock area continues to face inadequate levels. Not enough donors are stepping forward to meet the blood needs of area patients. Every one depends on blood, and every two seconds, someone needs blood. Each day, patients across the country receive approximately 38,000 units of this lifesaving resource. This year alone, as many as five million patients will require blood transfusions, as accident victims, people undergoing surgery and patients receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer and other diseases.
On behalf of area hospital patients, the Lubbock Cotton Kings are hosting a special promotional blood drive on Monday, February 13, 2006. This event will be called "Give Blood - Play Hockey," and the drive will be held at the South Plains Mall's Main Entrance in the donor coach at 6002 Slide Road from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Join the Lubbock Cotton Kings players donating blood and receive a t-shirt and hockey vouchers, along with autographs from the players and get entered into a drawing for a Cotton Kings Jersey. Additional info can be obtained by contacting the Kings offices at 806-747-7825.
The Kings return to the ice Friday night, hosting the Tulsa Oilers at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. Individual game ticket information is available by contacting the Cotton Kings office at (806) 747-7825. Additional âKings info can be found online via their official site at www.cottonkings.com.
