Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The Waterloo Black Hawks gave the Des Moines Buccaneers a big lead Saturday, but the Bucs gave it back before winning 6-5 at Buccaneer Arena.
Bryce Ravndalen scored the first goal of the night on the power play at 4:34, and it was all Des Moines from there for the remainder of the period. Four scores in less than five minutes and five total in the last ten minutes of the frame sent the Bucs to intermission ahead by four. Chris Stafne was responsible for two of the tallies, including a power play goal with 1:15 remaining, which was initially ruled to have hit the post and bounced out, but later was awarded as a goal at intermission.
The comeback started in the second when J.T. Brown converted a penalty shot at the three minute mark. Soren Jonzzon scored, following his initial shot for a second chance, 4:35 later. Another early flurry in the third tied the game, with nearly identical goals on long shots from Dan Sova and Nick Ebert at 3:03 and 4:12. The game remained 5-5 until Colton Saucerman's chance from just inside the blue line found its way through traffic to the net with 1:51 remaining, giving the Bucs a final edge.
The Black Hawks are now off until after Christmas when the travel to meet the Youngstown Phantoms on December 29th.
