Giants Quiet Nuts Bats in 5-1 Loss

Modesto, CA. - Luis Ysla and company stifled the Modesto Nuts' bats in a 5-1 loss against the San Jose Giants on Monday night at John Thurman Field.

The Nuts' (58-49; 25-12) best chance came in the sixth inning. Luis Ysla (W, 2-5) had allowed just one run in his start for the Giants (54-53; 24-13) leading into the sixth. The Nuts loaded the bases with one out before Ysla was removed from the game. Ian Gardeck entered and retired the next two hitters to shut down the rally. Ysla finished after 5.1 innings allowing just the one run on seven hits with six strikeouts.

Antonio Senzatela (L, 7-6) worked six innings and allowed five runs, three earned on eight hits. Angel Villalona had a RBI single in the third. The inning was extended on an error before a sac fly by Brian Ragira. Ragira added a RBI single in the fifth and scored on two throwing errors on the same play.

The Giants' bullpen worked 3.2 perfect innings out of the bullpen.
