VANCOUVER, BC - The Vancouver Giants Hockey Club has made a trade with the Kootenay ICE, acquiring 19-year-old defenceman John Neibrandt in exchange for a 5th Round selection in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. Neibrandt will be considered an over-age player for the 2012/2013 season due to his birthdate of October 9, 1992.

The native of Yorkton, SK, is a 6'5", 196 lbs veteran of two WHL seasons, both as a member of the ICE. He was part of their 2011 WHL Championship squad that made it all the way to the Memorial Cup Semi-Final. In 134 career regular season games, Neibrandt has 3 goals, 16 assists and 83 penalty minutes.

"John is an extremely sound defensive player who comes to us from a solid program in Kootenay", says Giants Executive VP and General Manager Scott Bonner. "He was on a team that won a WHL championship and attended the 2011 Memorial Cup. We feel that adding a veteran with this type of experience to our group will really help our young guys a lot."

The Giants are also pleased to announce that they have signed 2011 Bantam Draft selection Shaun Dosanjh to a standard WHL Player Agreement. The defenceman from Richmond, BC was the Giants' 3rd Round selection (65th overall).
